It looks a million times better with a full view. Really. A whole million.
Whoof. FINALLY finished this one! I've been poking it periodically throughout the semester, but once I got home I could dedicate the hours needed to actually make some progress on it! Yus.
Aaron is the catalyst for the storyline in my novel. He was happily a priest for a few years until several events occurred in quick succession, and before he knew it, he was defrocked and trying to figure out how to farm to support himself and his new family. Yeah, he was real thrilled about that.
A few months later, while out for a nighttime walk to clear his head, someone began talking to him, promising to make him great in the eyes of the Lanothan church. It's too bad he didn't question what the voice meant by "great". All too eager for his job back, he agreed to whatever the terms.
And that's how he came to be possessed by the demon Legion. The demon had promised a few alterations so that Aaron would be able to fulfill his role as "great", but Aaron hadn't expected to be turned into some sort of monster...a vampire, or as they eventually came to be called, a Legionnaire.
He sought help from the church, but at the sight of him, they panicked, and he was attacked. Driven mad, he slaughtered them and had his first taste for blood. Manipulated and urged on by Legion, he came to hate the Lanothans, and began a campaign that changed the world.
So there's a bit of back story. The black wings aren't his, but Legion's. Legion can't completely come into the physical plane on his own, but as long as he possesses or, as he prefers to, simply "aid" Aaron in his endeavors, Legion can make his wings materialize from the spiritual plane to the physical one. He can also lend Aaron his voices (since Legion is a few thousand demons all acting as one) so that Aaron can scream and it comes out as thousands of voices at once, the others reverberating out from the spiritual plane into the physical.
Oh, and I still didn't draw legs on him because this is more iconic than a true portrait or anything. The red sword isn't metal, but a sort of gemstone found on that world, which I haven't named yet, but is an alternate world to ours. Hence, Lanothans are sort of like the alternate to Catholics, but differences between the two universes can be found as readily as similarities.
SO HAPPY TO BE FINISHED. I can't say that enough. XD
Oh wow. I never realized exactly how well he tends to color coordinate. Sharp-looking, and I don't just mean the fangs. :9
I love the way this came out overall, from the new colored-lines technique which I so want to try somehow to your ever-pwning shading skillz. Someday I will learn to not be lazy and therefore kick butt at the coloring, just like you. Someday! D:
And, of course, there's nothing quite as hot as an elegant ex-priest vampire red-head with a wicked sword. Not biased. Not at all.

I was almost more curious about how people would see the story since I'm writing my novel based on that sort of thing. I didn't know what others would think. >.>
But yay! You liked both the picture AND the story, so I squee to myself. :3
Aaron is very color-conscious when he's not killing things.
The colored lines thing has its good and bad sides. x_x Mostly good, but you have to be really neurotic when doing the digital lineart. I spent a long time fiddling with the lines because I had been lazy, noooo.
You're the most unbiased person I know towards this subject. Totally.
Holy crap, that looks awesome. And I'm thrilled to see you finish something, and that it's Aaron and that it means you're thinking about your own fic is super bonus awesome.
