A nice sepia-ish Mort (up top) and Con. They live on a post-apocalyptic Earth, war-torn with a few survivors scattered here and there.

Mort (or Morty, as Con calls him), named because of his past occupation as a man-made Angel of Death--of which he has no recollection, works now to try and piece together exactly what happened to the Earth...and himself.

Con (short for "Conscience") has the ability to read a person's being--conscious and subconscious thoughts, memories, and desires. He had to go through quite a bit to gain this ability, and in return gave up all that was his experience of life. He has no memories to call his own, save for what was stored up after said event. He likes to collect them from others now, as a hobby. Mort was no exception.

Con knows far more than he lets on, having seen everything that occurred through Mort's suppressed memories, and tends to frustrate Mort by keeping it all to himself. He travels along with Mort dropping hints about everything while working with him to help restore Earth to something like what it once was.

It's amazing how many people will reject help from the former Angel of Death.

Mort has no idea why they're dressed like monks, but he has been as far back as he can remember. The rosary he carries also gives him a hint about his past. He can't remember what it's for, so he keeps it for good-luck. Con is conveniently oblivious as well. He gets lots of dirty looks for that.

Anyhow, I had a lot of fun with this picture AND coming up with their story. I think I'm going to go really flesh it out now. :3
